The Islita Area


Islita is located between Playa Carillo and Playa Coyote on the southern half of the Nicoya Peninsula in the northwestern area of Costa Rica called Guanacaste. This coastal region is known for its many beaches.

Villages along the main road provide shopping for food, gasoline, propane and other essentials. The Mirador Restaurant and Bar, a local attraction, is within walking distance of the property.

Beautiful beaches, an airstrip and the elegant Punta Islita Hotel are within a ten-minute drive. As in much of Costa Rica, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is a necessity.

The median temperature is 27C / 81F. The rainy season and increased humidity, usually begin in May and end in November. The wettest months are September and October.

A variety of animal life is found in the area and on the property. Included are exotic frogs and crabs, butterflies and parrots. Interesting mammals include the Nine-banded Armadillo, Howler Monkey, White-nosed Coati and Kinkajou.

Two of the most colorful species here are the large blue Morpho butterfly with large eye spots on the underwings and the colorful Mot-Mot.
